We have all been misled by advertisements before thinking that something may make us live longer, grow hair, or cause natural male enhancement. Primeval misleads viewers into believing it is following the trend of gore-ridden movies that audiences have acquired a taste for. It is a current dated version of the 1999 movie Lake Placid, but in Africa and with more explosions. Attempting to over shadow the real troubles of Africa's government with the average comedic humor of former 7UP spokesperson Orlando Jones and an oversized novelty crocodile with a thirst for blood. This movie is an insult to cinema and the American public; it appears to be making real problems in the world simple for the simple Americans who enjoy their slasher films and spend time ignoring the news. Clearly targeted towards a less enlightened demographic, this movie leaves educated individuals wanting their $8.25 back.
This movie lacked substance and, even more annoying, made the antics of a few well-placed jokes lighten the seriousness of the turmoil of African citizens. This movie had an opportunity to make a powerful statement about the constant murders and corruption in Africa, it had the chance to bring a powerful and realistic light to a horrible crime on humanity, but no. What does it do? It puts the guy from FOX's Prison Break and the 7UP guy in Africa running from some kind of super crocodile. It was lame, predictable, and just goofy.
I recommend not seeing this movie. Although you may leave more aware of the danger of crocodiles you still wasted time that you will never get back.
