Students at Piedmont College were given an opportunity to give back to the community. The American Red Cross conducted a blood drive in the Lane Student Center The turn out was, as high.
Students, as well as faculty and staff from the college, participated in the event to help build up supplies for the blood bank. The blood drive has become an event that takes place multiple times on the campus every year. It has proven to be a success.
Drew Davis, dean of student affairs, helped get notice of the event out to students by sending e-mails and text messages to students and by word of mouth.
The event took place on April 1. Many students saw the event as an opportunity to do something for someone else. While some people have a strong fear of needles and felt they could not participate, there was still plenty of support. Many staff members have made participation an annual event.
"It is a privilege and good opportunity to help out and it doesn't take too much time or effort to do," says Coach Richard Dombrowsky, sports information director and assistant baseball coach.
