Men's golf grabs top 10 finish among elite field
Barton named to Georgia Cup's All-State team

Piedmont played double-time at the Emory University Spring Invitational, playing all 36 holes in a single day.
The men were forced to play the entire invitational on April 14 after battling wet weather in Atlanta on April 13.
Piedmont proved its tenacity, earning a top 10 finish against a nationally-ranked NCAA Division-III field.
The Lions placed ninth among 12 teams.
The men ended the tournament with a 643 total score after a 328 first round score and 315 second round score.
The Lions rebounded from the tenth place to pass Thomas More College in the second round.
Junior Clifton Barton led the Lions with a 155, posting a 78 in the initial round and a 77 in the following round.
Barton was named to the Georgia Cup's All-State team after the tournament, finishing thirtieth out of 79 golfers.
Freshman Taylor Gary broke 80 twice while posting a total score of 158.
The top-ranked Huntingdon College golf team beat out number two Methodist University by one stroke.
The competition at Stonemont Course at Stone Mountain Golf Club included seven of the nation's top 20 NCAA Division-III teams.
The men's golf team returns to the course on April 21 at The Orchard Spring Invitational in Clarkesville.
The match will wrap up the Lions' 2008-2009 tournament schedule.
The women's golf team will also wrap up its season on April 21 in the same tournament.
