The 2009 MLB season is off to a rough start. In less than two weeks, baseball lost a youngster in Nick Adenhart, a legendary broadcaster in Harry Kalas and a former big league character in Mark "The Bird" Fidrych. Amidst the tragedy, some MLB teams are off to a surprising start. The Marlins and Orioles currently lead their respective divisions despite predictions that don't favor them…The NBA playoffs are here, and the Hawks are hoping to get off to a flying start. against the Heat. The Celtics are a team that will have a tough road to travel, as star Kevin Garnett likely will miss out on the playoffs all together. Garnett has been suffering from a knee injury that has limited him to just four games over the final two months of the season. The Celtics lost their first game of the playoffs in overtime to the Bulls. Kobe and the Lakers meanwhile came away with a game one win over the Jazz…The NHL Stanley Cup playoffs are also upon us, and somehow the Pittsburgh Penguins were able to make it into April. The Pens had fired head coach Michel Therrien earlier in the season. The move proved to provide a spark for the Pens, who won 18 of their final 25 games of the regular season, with four of the losses coming in overtime or in shootouts. The success has carried into the postseason, as the Penguins hold a two games to one lead in the first round over the Philadelphia Flyers.
