No Piedmont baseball record is safe. Each year a record falls.

Piedmont's historic 2008 run to the NCAA Division-III National Tournament shattered nearly every single-season record as a team and individually.

Nevertheless, the 2009 season has already produced new records and is threatening many others.

As a team, the Lions have 14 homeruns, passing the 2008 record of 12.

With homers comes a good slugging percentage, set last year at .395. This year's squad has slugged .424 to date and has a .408 on-base percentage, 11 points higher than the record of .397.

While the team threatens to overtake many records, some individual marks have already been claimed by new names.

Junior Zac Stein currently holds a .586 slugging percentage, well above the .544 of the previous owner.

The previous single-season walks record was 27 by Evan Nissley last season. Senior Brandon Hitch and junior Jared Vermilya have 36 and 32 walks respectively. This has translated to Hitch's .500 on-base percentage, seven points above Lindsey's 2008 record.

Lastly, some career numbers have already been replaced.

Senior Andy Graf recently set the new record for most career wins with 19.

Fellow senior Matt Burgess and junior Spencer Shelton are close behind with 17 and 15 wins respectively.
