Piedmont College is activating a new cabinet on campus. The Student Affairs Cabinet is a replacement for the Student Leadership Council. This Cabinet will fulfill the duties of the Leadership Council but it consists of students who have volunteered for the cabinet.
The cabinet will deliberate, discuss, and make discussions on issues that are important to the student body. It will oversee the inner club funding and outreach to the community. Drew Davis, dean of student affairs, says, "What we hope to gain from this more than anything is dedication to the cause."
Student Leadership Council was comprised of students who were required to be involved because of their leadership position in their campus club. With this new cabinet, students who are passionate about wanting the student voice heard have the choice to submit applications.
The process of looking for students interested in a position in the cabinet is already underway.
Students who are interested in the cabinet can contact Davis and submit a one-page application of why they would want to serve. Then, an interview is set up with Davis and Cleere.
The Student Affairs Cabinet is to be composed of eight to 10 students representing all classes, as well as departments.
Davis plans on the cabinet's first meeting to be at the end of September.
Davis says, "I'm looking forward to the cabinet being in place and seeing what good things come from the students."
