Dr. Misner plans Ethics Bowl
Students learn to think critically

"It's all about critical thinking and the choices we make," says Dr. John Misner, dean of the Walker School of Business.?
The Ethics Bowl is a competition helping students figure out vital circumstances in a multifaceted manor.? "It helps students have craft and response to dynamic ethical situations.? For example, students have to think of what the situation are, who is affected, and what are the repercussions in contemporary dilemmas." says Misner.
Misner is conducting The Ethics Bowl 2010 competition at the Lakeside Dining Room on Feb. 22 from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.?
In order to participate: one must be a Piedmont College undergraduate; limit of eight, three person teams; and must e-mail Misner at jmisner@piedmont.edu by Feb. 15.?
The judges for this event are Dr. Steven Nimmo, dean of arts and sciences; Dr. Bob Cummings, associate dean of the school of education; and Dr. Janice Moss, professor of mass communications.
The prizes consist of cash prizes.? First place team wins $300, second place wins $200 and third place wins $100.
The students have one week of preparation to think of solutions for three separate one page mini-cases starting on Feb. 15 and lasting until the competition on Feb. 22.
"The Ethics Bowl should be fun, but making people think quickly on their feet,"?says Misner.? "Students should leave having reflective and complex developed critical thinking skills."?
