Issue date: 2/8/10 Section: Sports
The Piedmont College baseball team was defeated in its first game of the season by visitor Guilford College yesterday in a game that was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
The score was 5-2.
Both teams agreed to move the first series of the season back after northeast Georgia was threatened by a winter mix of rain and sleet.
Guilford College was led by Kyle Wooden. Wooden contributed three hits for the team.
The 2010 D3baseball.com Preseason All-America Team named Wooden as an honorable mention selection.
He was also last year's NCAA Division III batting champion.
Even with Guilford throwing multiple scoreless innings, Piedmont had several connections with the ball, but only two Lions could make it to home base.
Piedmont still has a chance to end the series well.
The two game series will continue today at Loudermilk Field.
The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
